FAQs
Questions, answered.
Installing or refurbishing a roof raises questions. Here are the ones we hear most.
Guarantees & insurance
Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
Yes. All our roofing and surfacing systems come with a 15 or 20 year guarantee. In most cases an insurance-backed manufacturer warranty is also available, covering materials, labour and consequential damage. Contact us for details of the guarantee available on each system.
Are you insured?
Yes. We hold £5 million public liability and £10 million employers liability insurance. Contact us if you would like a copy of our current policy.
Do you have a health and safety policy?
Yes. We work hard to keep our staff and our clients safe. Our team receives regular training on every waterproofing, coating and surfacing system we use, and we prepare risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for projects that need them. A copy of our health and safety policy is available on request.
General
Are your quotes free?
Yes. All quotations are free and come with no obligation. We are happy to quote for any of your roofing, waterproofing or surfacing needs.
Do you use sub-contractors?
No. All our operatives work for Protec Roofing only, and they are fully trained and approved to fit the high-performance waterproofing and surfacing systems we offer. The team that surveys your roof is the team that builds it.
What products do you use?
We use only high-quality materials from reputable UK manufacturers and distributors, and all of them are BBA approved.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Woolston, Southampton, and cover Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, West Sussex and Surrey.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not always. It depends on the job and whether we need access through the property. We will talk it through when we survey and agree an arrangement that suits you.
Projects
Do you take on pitched roof projects?
Yes. We carry out pitched roof projects and repairs, including slate, tiles and leadwork, although our speciality is flat roofing.
How long will my roof take?
It depends on the size of the roof and the work involved. Most residential jobs are completed within a day or two. Your roof is never left open to the weather overnight: anything we start is made completely watertight again before we leave site. For a more accurate idea, send us a brief outline of the work.
Do you remove asbestos roofs?
Yes. Our team can remove asbestos roofs and dispose of them safely. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Which flat roof system is right for me?
It depends on the size and shape of your roof, how you use it and your budget. Because we install several systems, we can recommend the one that genuinely suits your roof. We will survey the property and talk you through the options before you decide.
Can you work over my existing flat roof?
Sometimes. Some liquid waterproofing systems can be applied over an existing roof with a new guarantee, without stripping the old covering. Whether that is possible depends on the condition of your roof, which we will check at survey.
